Iraq: a war of the sectarians..

The iraq people resist any idea that what is happening in Iraq now is civil war as the media and liberal politicians like to call it, and thus, the 'against the war' crowd get more fodder to use for the cut and run, withdraw soon rhetoric.     "Amir Taheri said the other day, this is not a sectarian war but a war of the sectarians; fanatics and extremists start the fight but innocents who never thought of carrying arms to kill people of other faiths are paying the heavier price."

The security plan is about to be established.   "Although the government didn't announce a date for launching the security plan, preparations can be easily seen through the deployment of security forces and the reestablishment of many checkpoints. Eyewitnesses told al-Mada that they saw army units deploying to the suburbs of Baghdad. Army vehicles drove through main streets asking people to remove the barricades they built earlier as a defensive measure against attacks from death squads."   "While the Baghdad security plan is still surrounded by secrecy, unofficial information says the plan is likely to be launched on Monday or Tuesday.

"In other news the deployment of an Iraqi brigade from Kurdistan to Baghdad is now complete and two other brigades are reportedly on their way in the coming days."

From residents of Bagdad:  "The streets remain full of all sorts of expected and unexpected violence and I hope the government is serious this time about enforcing the law; appeasement, half solutions and bias would be fatal mistakes that we can't afford to make."

Will America and the Western Civilized World defeat the jihad?

Not the way the west is currently handling it. George Bush at times appears to know the enemy, but the detractors in the press and the liberals carry a big stick swapping at every reference and attempt the President makes toward defining the enemy who high jacked those planes on 9/11. His rhetoric has become ambiguous. In one speech the enemy is radical Islamics, in another, Islam is a religion of peace high jacked by the radicals, just a small bunch of the al-qaeda fanatics. The leftist liberals do not think there is an enemy wanting to destroy Western civilization. Meanwhile the radical Islamics are holding ground as they continue the isolated attacks taking out anyone: their own fellow Muslims, women and children, and allied forces, who just happen to be in the wrong place at the right time to get murdered. The press continues to call them insurgents and freedom fighters. The press and most liberal politicians think it might be just a civil war, a fight between two distinct factions of Muslims just wanting power over the other. Meanwhile they are maintaining their feeble, but effective tactics of terror not only in Iraq, but again in Afghanistan, in Indonesia, in India, in Thailand, Africa and elsewhere. Is it global, or just random acts of violence? Are the acts of terror in those other countries committed by freedom fighters and insurgents also? Or, is there a larger enemy? Is it organized? Are they just a bunch of dissatisfied radical opportunists? Who are these people anyway? What do they want?

Know thy enemy.

Only by knowing what motivates your enemy, knowing what he is fighting for and what he intends to achieve, what his strategic objectives are, can you become able to strike him where he is weakest - most brittle, most fragile, most vulnerable - and that is by striking at what motivates him. If you do not know what motivates your enemy, you cannot strike where he is weakest. But if you can defeat his motivation, you defeat his will to fight.” Ray Kraft: “Understanding Jihad.”

The big question for the western leaders. Specifically, that question is now directed at the democrat majority. You have just come into power and your stance is the same, but wavering a bit because something is amiss. It’s time for a decision. If this war is not worth it, then quit and let history write the next script. Why are you still spending so much time and effort, and the lives of your own citizens fighting a bunch of insurgents and freedom fighters on foreign soil? The evil dictator has been removed and hanged, so now it must be time to come home. Right? But, before you do that, ask yourselves another question. Is there a bigger enemy than these isolated acts of terror would indicate? If there is, who is it? If not, then bring all of the troops home, the sooner the better, and let the freedom fighters fight the insurgents and struggle for control of their own land. Our troops and their families deserve an answer. All of America deserves a definitive answer. Being in this state of limbo is not good for anyone. Fight or take flight.

Do it now. Make that decision. Everything that you, our leaders and the press, have debated over the past several years indicate that you have lost the motivation and the will to fight this battle to a finish? The debates and the noise have indicated that this is not a war that is worth fighting. Do you think that any of our freedoms, or the freedoms and rights of our friends across the seas are in danger by those insurgents and freedom fighters? You, our leaders have not even identified an enemy except in general ambiguous terms, indicating that you do not know of anyone really threatening the Western way of life. The consensus has been that the battle in Iraq is local, that Iran may be slightly involved by supplying funds and ammunition to the freedom fighters and Iran may also be developing nuclear capabilities. Iran is not yet considered an enemy, just a country to watch, as you wish to believe it is a peaceful Muslim nation that however, could become a huge threat with those nuclear designs. But, not yet.

If your motivation is gone and the will is gone, then the insurgents have won. It just has not been declared as final. The white flag has yet to be raised. But, the hesitation to let the fat lady sing indicates that you do not really think it’s over. Right now then is the time to identify the enemy. Right now, at this crossroad is the time to ask yourselves who is behind the freedom fighters and why do they continue to stoke the flames with small isolated incidents of acts of terror. Here we are, the Untied States of America, the country with the greatest military arsenal ever, letting ied’s twist us into a ball of putty. Now that is shameful.

Time to define the enemy. What do they want? Who? Why? What?

Listen up liberals and democrats; I’ve got a tip for you. Read the commentary linked here.

When you decide, and I assume that after reading this commentary that this is what the world will hear loud and clear.

"You cannot win. We will not let you win. We will do all that is necessary to defend the Western principles of intellectual freedom, religious freedom, political freedom. We will not let Islam be victorious over Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and the freedom to be Agnostic or Atheist, or to follow any other religion. It is not we who must change - it is YOU who must change. Islam must change. Islam must leave the 7th century behind, and emerge into a 21st century of freedom, tolerance, multiculturalism, diversity, and liberal democracy. Islam must learn to accept the legitimacy of other religions and cultures. Islam must learn to live as a Faith that accepts the legitimacy and equality of all other Faiths. Islam must learn to live as a culture that accepts the legitimacy and equality of all other cultures. Until Islam learns this, we, the people of Civilization and freedom, will stand in solidarity against Jihad."

If only.

As I see It Now.

Limiting my posts to two subjects.

From this time forward the articles I write for this blog will be limited to two and only two subjects.  It's been leading in that direction anyway, as these two subjects are currently the most important issues our country is facing today.  They are: Islam and immigration.  Islam, because of the war it has brought into the international consciousness, and the far reaching consequences if the religion of Islam, and the radical element within is allowed additional leeway.  Immigration because, without the control of our borders, America is doomed from within.  Just making that decision has resolved the ambivalence of my rants.  I suspect that there may be few raves to crow about.

So, with that decision being made, I'll quote from an article by Ray Kraft: "Understanding Jihad."

I wish that this was the feelings of our leaders, from the President, from our congress, and perhaps most importantly from our mainline press.

Canadian City adopts standards for residents.

The following are standards that all new residents must adopt as their own.  Now this is the way to do it, and my hat is off to this mayor and the city counselors.

In Herouxville, Québec  "So that the future residents can integrate socially more easily, we have decided unanimously, to make public, certain standards already in place and very well anchored in the lives of our electors. Our objective is to show that we support the wishes of our electors and this being shown clearly by the results of our poll regarding this issue. And our goal is to inform the new arrivals to our territory, how we live to help them make a clear decision to integrate into our area. We would especially like to inform the new arrivals that the lifestyle that they left behind in their birth country cannot be brought here with them and they would have to adapt to their new social identity."

I'll copy a few of the highlights here for a quick read.

"...we consider that a woman can; drive a car, vote, sign checks, dance, decide for herself, speak her peace, dress as she sees fit respecting of course the democratic decency, walk alone in public places, study, have a job, have her own belongings and anything else that a man can do."

"....We listen to music, we drink alcoholic beverages in public or private places, we dance and at the end of every year we decorate a tree with balls and tinsel and some lights. This is normally called “Christmas Decorations ”

"...For the last few years to draw away from religious influences or orientation no locale is made available for prayer or any other form of incantation.   ...generally, at the end of the year you will possibly see “Christmas Decorations ” or “Christmas Trees ” The children might also sing “Christmas Carols ” if they want to."

"...For the longest time boys and girls have played the same games and often play together. For example, if you came to my place we would send the kids to swim together in the pool, don’t be surprised this is normal for us."

"...You may not hide your face as to be able to identify you while you are in public. The only time you may mask or cover your face is during Halloween,

"...No law or work condition imposes the employer to supply a place of prayer or the time during the working day for this activity. You will also see men and women working side by side"

"You might still see crosses that tell our past. They are an integrated part of our history and patrimony and should be considered as such."

Kudos to this town.  If only some American towns had the courage.

The IPCC conflicting statements

Read one report and there is nothing we can do.  Read another and we better get with it NOW.  Hey, which is it?  Frustration level is rising.   We see through a glass darkly, but when the report was to come out, the window was to be clean, and EVERYONE would know the absolute truth of indisputable scientific facts about the phenomenon of Global Warming.  Well, the glass is still dirty.  So goes the IPCC as reported by major publications around the world.   Turn the lights of the Eiffel Tower back on as we need to see through the haze of the confusing IPCC report.

The first account I read was by AP and summarized as "
saying they have little doubt global warming is caused by man, and predicting that hotter temperatures and rises in sea level will "continue for centuries" no matter how much humans control their pollution.  Read that last part again.  "no matter how much humans control their pollution.

And now today, an article written by the same person at AP summarizes:
"many of the experts are hopeful that nations will now take action to avoid the worst scenarios."   "It's not too late."

Which is it?  The way I read these conflicting statements is that there is nothing we can do, but we'd better do it now.  Now, which is it?  Both ways.  I guess I just don't understand the new ideological concept of "having it all".  Why would I want to do something that won't matter.  Useless waste of energy.  Oh, a light just went on.   If I started out walking to the store, but no matter how hard or long I walked I would not get to the store, that would be considered a waste of energy, right?   But I'm looking at it all wrong.  I've got to consider it as exercise at the gym on a treadmill.  I walk and walk and walk and literally get nowhere, but my heart rate and muscle tones are better off, so it's good, right?   Now, to interpret this concept into the global warming debate we need to consider that all the laws and regulations that governments will now make (the walking) to reduce greenhouse gases (although the changes will not have any effect upon the environment) will still be beneficial to us all in that the enviormental scientific community will be stronger (the heart rate) and will have more strength and influence (muscle tone) over governments.

That's How I see it.

Trend Setting Events have a way of becoming normal.

It takes a village to bring up a child, and home schooling is not considered part of the village.  Now all of you people who are in favor of bigger and more intrusive global government take notice.  A teen-ager was removed from her home by force (15 police officers) and placed in a child psychiatric ward because her grades in math and Latin were not up to par, although all her other grades were just fine and this young girl was talented in music.   No, this time it's not in America, but in Germany, so you can rest a few years, but you can bet your bottom dollar that if  international laws ever creep into the US, these things can and will happen in your village.  Read the story here.

I find the following rather disturbing. and it's not that I'm one of those Islamicphobes, because I am, but this is trend setting and all part of the unwritten codes of multi-culturalism and diversity that all good Americans are to toe the line.  At their recent Democrat national committee meeting, the entire delegation was led in prayer by a Muslim cleric.
This country was founded on Christian foundations, things like the ten commandments, the rule of law, and the bill of rights, and just because Thomas Jefferson had a copy of a Koran in his personal library does not make the US a nation with Islamic foundations.  History has been rewritten before, and it can happen here.  Be careful of trend setting events.

And we wonder no more why the illegal immigration snafu will never ever be solved in this country when the local police are forbidden to cooperate with the national immigration enforcement (ICE), and the DHS personnel.  Part of the co-operation should be the identification of aliens during a local traffic stop etc., but no, they can not even ask for documentation.  An American group is informing the hispanic community (in spanish) that they need not fear the police when stopped.  At the rate that the government is finding and rounding up the 12 million and counting illegal aliens in the shadows, it will take 38 years, assuming no more cross the borders.  The people at ICE really really have job security.

Johhny Sutton does another.

The case of' 'Gilmer' Hernandez convicted on Dec 1st  for firing at the tires of a fleeing vehicle stopped for a traffic violation which upon leaving swerved into the officer, so the officer defended himself.   The driver of the vehicle was transporting illegals deeper into the country for a fee of $2000 each.  One of the passengers was hit.  Again, it's similar to the case of the border patrol agents.  There is a pattern forming, possibly a new legal term.  This looks like "the consequences of the second offense".

In other words, if someone tries to harm you, and you try in any way to defend yourself and by so doing harm the offender, then you are guilty, and the offender goes free as a victim who can sue.  We are seeing more and more of this victimology.

What a mixed up legal system is this turning into.

Johnny Sutton doing his job again?  Don't believe it, he is on an agenda to bring down the officers who are out there protecting us and using the consequences of the second offense as more important than bringing to justice those who break the law in the first instance.

That's AS I See It Now.

Gads Zooks.. Ice Age Coming

Time magazine has an article forecasting an imminent Ice Age is on the way.  However, that was published in 1974.   The earth has recovered from the Ice Age and now we're into a Hot Age.   What the heck is going on here?

The natural cycle goes like this.

Ice age turns into global warming which turns into ice age which in turn turns into global warming which then forms an ice age which melts because of the Hot age which keeps the scientists and scare mongers employed.

To put it all together read this: "Global Warming: A chilling Perspective"

Global Warming hysteria. a dog and it's tail.

All that fuss, all those meetings and the first premise is wrong anyway.  Perhaps now, just perhaps Global Warming is not man made, and that is why man can't do anything to stop it, because man has not caused it.  No, these highly educated scientists would not refute the purpose of the get together, because then there would not be a purpose for another get together.  They would then have to find another reason for their continued government funded studies.  Now they can continue to study something you can't do anything about.

Can't stop a dog from chasing it's tail.

Read what Neal Boortz has to say about it.  Sums it all pretty dang gone good.

It's final. Global Warming....But

There's nothing man can do about it.   "This is just not something you can stop. We're just going to have to live with it," said Trenberth, the director of climate analysis for the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo.  The AP report of the meeting of the 113 countries was full of contradictions.

"Scientists from 113 countries issued a landmark report Friday saying they have little doubt global warming is caused by man, and predicting that hotter temperatures and rises in sea level will "continue for centuries" no matter how much humans control their pollution."

"One of the authors, Kevin Trenberth, said scientists are worried that world leaders will take the message in the wrong way and throw up their hands. Instead, world leaders should to reduce emissions and adapt to a warmer world with wilder weather,"

"It also said no matter how much civilization slows or reduces its greenhouse gas emissions, global warming and sea level rise will continue on for centuries."

So, let me get this straight.  Global Warming is man made, but there is nothing man can do about it, but should reduce emissions anyway.  Why?   Why should governments all around the globe force industries to redefine all aspects of production in order to reduce emissions when everything they do to cut emissions will not cut emissions, and the greenhouse effect will still be an effected greenhouse?   Brilliant.  For all this they turned the lights off the tower to commemorate the work of these
scientists of 113 countries.   Now that's it.  When so many different highly educated people representing 113 countries agree on something, it should be applauded.  This is good.  They agreed by saying it's our fault, but you can't do anything about it, but worry anyway, and try anyway.

As I See It Now.

Another ICE raid nets 53

The latest raid by the ICE agents was at a suburban Houston waste management company early Wednesday.  And, this is the best part of it all.  The company was following the federal pilot program called EEVS (Employee Eligibility Verification System)  which is suppose to verify if an employee is legally entitled to work in the US or not, using the governments own system of checking valid social security numbers etc.  It's a joke.  It's a joke.  It's a joke.  How many times do I and the public have to say it,  and the DHS and ICE will get the message?  How many times does a business have to complain before these agencies get it?   And then set up a system that will work.

"The head of the Department of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff, said in December that the pilot program is a "partial solution," but also contains gaps. While it detects fraudulent Social Security numbers, the system is unable to track duplicate numbers, which some critics charge leaves Americans open to identity fraud."   Duh.   A joke.

"The main, primary weakness is the inability of the system to tell the employer if the Social Security number is in use in multiple locations."  "It's too difficult for employers to know what's real and what's not, so clearly we need a new system."   Duh.   A Joke.

The company said  "prospective employees can show more than two dozen documents to support their claim that they are legal workers.  If those documents reasonably appear to be genuine and related to the person presenting them, we have to accept them,"    What's wrong with just a current social security card, an Individual Taxpayers Identification Number (ITIN) and a photo Id, like a drivers license, with the information matching that of the SSN or ITIN.  Nope,  Too simple.  Politicians have to complicate and provide options of 24 different documents that could be forged.   How can an employer ensure that these documents are not forged when the federal government can't?  Or won't accept the responsibility.

This has become a pet peeve of mine and I have written several posts about this pilot program.  Read here for a simple solution.

I've also determined that according to the current level of apprehensions of illegal aliens working in the US, (186,600 in 2006) it will take 38 years to round up the 12 million.   And I was generous adding a 10% increase each year.  38 years, assuming that no more cross the border.

The rule according to Newt Gingrich

I love this quote.  Newt has the quote of the year.  Yeah I know, it's only the first of Feb, but this quote in its simplicity defines our progressive society of multi-culturalism.  Whenever we give in, and/or appease those who whine and moan about not being included, etc. etc. it leads   "to the rule of the perpetually aggrieved, a tyranny of the easily offended."   He was talking about the Wren cross being removed from the chapel at William and Mary because it might offend some Muslims and the administrator desires the chapel to be open to all faiths.

It's simple, open the doors.

Next, there will be someone come forward and say that the red cushions on the pews are not in keeping with our faith, we are offended by the color red.  And, while you are at it, remove the pews altogether so we have more room for the prayer mats.  There is no end to this craziness.  How far down this road will this country go "to the rule of perpetually aggrieved", and become "a tyranny of the easily offended"?

We flunk number 1 of 9 points.

Our government and the media have flunked the first of nine essential points for talking about the war of terrorism.  James Phillips and James J. Carafano have put together "Nine Essential Elements for Talking about the war on Terrorism."  Read it here.  Published by Human Events.  Now, I agree that these nine points would be enough on the ideological level to defeat the radical Muslims, but it's just fancy words in the sea of a divisive diverse politically correct religion of secular progressiveness.

The first point:  "Remember that winning the long war is all about winning the struggle of ideas. Such an effort requires (1) understanding the enemy, (2) delegitimizing its view of the world, (3) offering a credible alternative, and (4) demonstrating the will to prevail in the long war. Americans have a role to play in all four tasks. Using the right words and ideas can help to speed the course to victory."    Graded by yours truly.  "F+"

"winning the struggle of ideas"  We have yet to realize that the war against Islamic radicals is not a war against terrorism, as terrorism is a tactic used to humiliate, to intimidate, to drive fear into and defeat us.  We do not need to fight the battle of ideas with the enemy, but with our own press and populace.   Islam will never accept our ideas.

1. Understanding the enemy.  Oh, we understand the enemy all right.  We understand that they want to defeat Western society, specifically Israel, the US and the rest of western democracy.  The Islamic mindset is to instil sharia law throughtout the world.  Period.  Theirs is not an assimilation, live and let live type of society, but of domination.  We understand Islam in this light and if there are moderate Muslims who would and could overthrow the radical element, then they have not yet shown those colors as yet.

2. delegitimizing its view of the world.  This cannot be accomplished when the media along with our  educational system put forth politically correct classes to instruct Americans on the culture of Islam as just a religion of peace and all of their contributions to the world in arts and all that kind of stuff.  That Islam is no worse than Christianity in their quest to spread their God concept to the rest of the world.

3. offering a credible alternative.  There is an alternative to Islam and it is Christianity, but by saying that I have now alienated many from reading further and I and everything previously written will be discarded as one of those right-wing radical fundamentalist theocratic closed minded thinking.   Progressive secularism is not an alternative.  Atheism is not an alternative.  communism is not an alternative.  Socialism is not an alternative.  Hinduism is not an alternative, nor any other eastern religion or political system.  The constitutional republic of the US has been the most successful governmental form ever, and it's basis was Jewish / Christian law as embodied in the Ten Commandments.  This is the alternative, but the media and the progressives would never ever promote this as an alternative to Islam.

4. demonstrating the will to prevail in the long war.  This has already been lost.  The enemy knows that our will is weak and it's just a matter of time and they can have their way.

These four sub-points are just a part of the first point these two authors have compiled.  Now, I agree that IF the nine points were followed, the war would be over soon.  But, there is that but again, the conflicting voices of our elite could never get together in one accord and thus defeat Islam at the gate.  Read the rest of the article as there are good points to ponder, but mostly the enemy is right here amonst us who would never agree.  They don't even accept that we should be in this war.

The perks of being THE Speaker

Having just returned from a fact finding trip to Iraq and still supporting the cut and run quicker than the cut and run later than first thought, Nancy the fancy is requesting from the White House the use of a military plane to transport her and staff and family members trips back and forth to San Fran.  The Perks of being the speaker.  Actually Dennis Hastert was granted the same priviledge after 9/11 for security and safety purposes, so it's really not trend setting.   The fancy wants the same, but with a few more perks, like relatives and other members of her district,  just kind of like "carte blanche for an aircraft any time."   A military plane.  I thought she was against the military.  Oh, yes, she supports the troops, just not what they do.  Anyway, the story has leaked through the Washington Times.

Hanson on Kerry at Davos Summit

Victor Davis Hanson reminds us that Kerry is ugly.  If John Kerry were not a US Senator, then his remarks would be considered like mine are, read only by devoted family members and friends, and discarded like a cut slice over the fence on the first tee at the first scramble of spring using a dirty ball because it is the first scramble of the year.
But this guy is a Senator, was a presidential candidate, and enjoys a fortune of someone elses money.  And he is over at this World Economic Forum thing criticizing the US (for which he is a representative) in front of hostile regimes desperate to get more of our taxes to fund projects for these these nations too backward to fund themselves.  Read the rest of the story here.
