Flexing his muscles, John Murtha

claims that he "intends to close Guantanamo."  They just will not let it sit.  A non worthy story became a big story because of the righteous press and organizations like Amnesty International castigating America as the "world's worst human rights violator".   The story of Guantanamo never should have made it pass the first floor, but with the help of the self-righteous democrats,  an over zealous Bush hating press, and civil rights groups like Amnesty, the story made it all the way to the penthouse suites.  Front Page Magazine  has an article recouping the happenings at this terrorist keeping grounds. It's worth the read exposing the way news is manipulated to any way the editor desires.

Opinions working, blogs working to shed light

The case against the two border patrol agents did not go away as pundits and bloggers kept this case in front of the world for weeks until finally, the president has said that he will look at the possibility of paroling these two.  Fox has the story today.  The story that we should all remember is that this works, the blogosphere is alive and well.  All of the posts here at townhall and other blogs, and the pundits on radio and TV in unison, have exposed this case and kept it in front of the media and the authorities until it became unavoidably important enough to respond to.  Johnny Sutton, the prosecutor of the case, because of the sheer volume of national interest in the case, was forced into making personal appearances on TV, and yesterdays  personal interview with James Corsi of World Net Daily, to defend his stand and provide reasons for the case against the agents.  His job is to  enforce the law.

After reading the entire interview, i still stand on the side of the agents and hopefully the president will see the injustice.  Sure the agents were guilty of breaking the laws.  No doubt about it, but 11 and 12 years in prison is an injustice considering everything.  Yes, they should be punished.  A suspension, a fine, parole, community service, whatever, but not prison.

But the way that this story captured national interest is a lesson to all of us.  Pundits and bloggers kept it alive.

It's working folks.  Free speech is alive and well.  We cannot let the government quench the voices of pundits and bloggers in any way.

Get illegals on the census count quick.....

because we do not want to loose a congressional seat.  A Boston Herald story of the desires of the State Secretary of State to hurry and get all of the illegal immigrants counted in the census, because population is the main criterion for determining the number of congressional seats the state would be delegated.   "Crucial to the census success: Convincing the estimated 150,000 to 200,000 illegal immigrants that they will simply be counted, not arrested."

What?  Is this crazy, or am I just expecting too much by thinking that our politicians and even the appointed government officials should enforce the laws?

But wait there's more.
“This is for real. A congressional seat is on the line,” said Ali Noorani, executive director of the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition.   Ah Ha!   An immigrant advocacy group is running things in the home of Teddy and Kerry.

Dang gone it, these people should be ran out of office.  If the census bureau, and the state of Massachuttes can count the illegals accurately, then they can find them, and then they can arrest them, and then they can deport them.

"A Census immigrant expert vowed the Census questionnaire will reach everybody using the latest street lists and even global-positioning systems."   They take their job seriously the census specialist said.

No you don't.   Is it time yet to stop this madness?   Nope.  Hey, why play games, just give them their green cards when they show up to be counted.  Get it over with.  This may be the only way the illegal immigration fiasco will end, just make them all legal for showing up.  It's called extreme amnesty, something like extreme makeover, where the house (in this case the USA) is torn down, redesigned, and rebuilt with hundreds of volunteers in just 7 days.

What is the root cause of terrorism?

Some say it's this, some say it's that, some won't guess, and some don't care as long as the music is loud, "don't bother me man".

Joseph Farah has it defined as well as anyone can.  "It works."

Most of the time when we talk about terrorism we're thinking of the violent kind, you know the IED's, the kidnappings, the beheadings, the drive by shootings and suicide bombings.   But let's not forget that terrorism can also mean acts of intimidation, or fear producing threats for the purpose of achieving a goal. The six immans of Minneapolis fame used threats to get the airport authorities to grant their wishes for a separate prayer room.   Have the peace at any price crowd ever used terrorism, like the 'rush the stage attack' while a  minuteman  was introduced to speak at an Ivy league university.  To my way of thinking that is also terrorism.   It works.  It creates an atmosphere of fear.  Whether it's a radical Islamic planting an IED, a crowd of the unruly walking the streets, or a lawsuit to extract a monetary sum, it's still terrorism.  And that is As I See It Now.

Outrageous and scary lawmakers...

It’s outrageous, and also scary, what some politicians can conceive as good for the country, or the State of Arizona in this case.  An Arizona lawmaker has introduced a bill to revise the state’s statutes on organized crime and fraud by defining “domestic terrorism” in such a way that members of the Minuteman Project or other border-patrol groups could be prosecuted and forced to serve a minimum six-month jail term.”  WND has the story.

HB2286 is a bill introduced by a very young, green and still wet behind the ears, Krystan Simema, a democrat of Phoenix.  I said green because she was formerly of the Green party.  I said wet behind the ears because her credentials are totally social work oriented.   Educated she is.  Degrees she has.   But, if your only experience in life is with the down and out, the victimized, the hard luck stories that social workers deal with daily, then what other attitude can one get but that only bigger government and more restrictions can resolve the problems of humans.  In this bill, she focuses on the Minutemen carrying weapons.

But the way the bill is written it will eventually lead to other self-protection issues.

The bill reads in part.

Sec. 2. Title 13, chapter 23, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 13-2320, to read:

13-2320. Domestic terrorism; classification

A. An individual or group of individuals commits domestic terrorism if the individual or group of individuals are not affiliated with a local, state or federal law enforcement entity and associate with another individual or group of individuals as an organization, group, corporation or company for the purpose of patrolling to detect alleged illegal activity or to individually patrol for the purpose of detecting alleged illegal activity and if the individual or group of individuals is armed with a firearm or other weapon.

Her intentions are to silence and restrict the work of the minutemen who wish to aid the border patrol in apprehending illegal alien crossing of our border.  She says they are “just scary”.  I wonder what she thinks of illegal drug smugglers entering the country?  I wonder what she thinks of the Mexican gangs shooting at our border patrol officers from the other side of the no fenced border?

All of that aside, in her stupidly written bill, I also see the possibility of a homeowner going to jail for protecting his domicile.  Consider this.  You have noticed that you are being robbed or threatened (an illegal activity) on your own property.  Perhaps someone has broken into your detached garage, barn or out building, or even house itself, and by returning home you discover the intruders.  You call 911, but then because of the immediate nature to protect your property and/or life, you and your spouse and teenager and possibly a neighbor to help patrol and/or surround the garage, barn or whatever for observation till the police arrive, and you arm yourself with a firearm or other weapon of force just in case.  The police arrive.  You were armed while detecting illegal activity.  The criminal intruder would go free.  The homeowner would spend 6 months in jail with a felony record.

This bill is what is “just scary”.

As I See It Now.

Muslim teen magazine looking for cover girl

Wanted:  modestly dressed Muslim teenage girls.  "A new magazine is offering the 400,000 teenage Muslim girls in the United States a chance to be a cover girl."  Washington Times has the story.    The Muslim magazine targeting the girly market has published their first issue.  On the cover is a headline called "Public enemy number One".  Jack Bauer.  Hey take a look.   You decide.

Perhaps there are moderate Muslims in America.  Moderately dressed.

Show force but don't use force....

In Washington, the know nothings are doing nothing, listening for a misspeak, struggling to understand the rhetoric of what they just said, so they can re-spin their side for the press to misprint as they gather support to not support the Presidents support with a troop escalation.

It is so easy to be cynical of politics.

As Congress debates and drags their feet on the escalation of the battle in Iraq, there have been two very respected and courageous journalists on the ground seeing what our troops are seeing every day in and around Iraq. Michael Yon is spending a year embedded with the troops, photographing and writing about those everyday experiences. Michelle Malkin just returned from her quick tour. “I came to Iraq a darkening pessimist about the war, due largely to my doubts about the compatibility of Islam and Western-style democracy, but also as a result of the steady, sensational diet of "grim milestone" and "daily IED count" media coverage that aids the insurgency. I left Iraq with unexpected hope and resolve.” Washington Times.

Michael Yon has his running account here. He has named it “Walking the Line”. “the most twisted part of the whole affair is that many people in the region confuse our restraint in the manner with which we treat suspects and prisoners with weakness or naivety.”   What I really like about Michaels account is his ability to relay the everyday, behind the scenes, the nitty gritty part of being a soldier in Iraq.  The photographs are outstanding.

Summary. There is yet a hope we can win this war and the Iraq people will enjoy a more sane, humane and democratic society with freedoms they’ve only read about.   But the ideological, the double sided battle that informs the enemy that America is divided gives the enemy hope and resolve to continue. They are well aware of our superior military, and they know that we could find and defeat them if we would, but we won’t, as it may mean different tactics such as down and dirty shoot and ask the questions later.   They know we won’t.

A show of force without using the force will work for awhile to aid the building of Iraq from within as they all try to avoid IED’s.

To the politicians and the media:  Shut up. Let the guys and gals do their job.

Here's something for the press and activists to jump on....

This man burned down the 'closet'   A man, a previously homosexual man, has actually come out of the closet, or is the other way around?  No, he set the concept of the closet on fire.  "I entered into the faith as a practicing homosexual and discovered through the community of faith a clear and loving track of redemption on which I matured into the capacity for heterosexual marriage and family."
So says ANDREW COMISKEY in his Kansas City Star article  "ON REACHING OUT TO THE CHURCH".  "Faithful and grateful after 25 years of marriage, with four young adults later, my wife and I love nothing more than equipping the only community on earth that actually possesses the goods necessary to transform lives beset by homosexual desires: the body of Christ."
Not only does the story touch me, but the headline he uses is "As i See It:  Christian community can transform homosesuals".

More of pressing 1 for English

The rebuttal of the STOU address on tuesday will also be given in Spanish.  Don't try to press 1 on your remote as we have not advanced in remote technology to that point yet,  but just wait, the time is coming.    ATM's at banks, credit machines in stores, automatic telephone answering machines, but not yet remotes.  You can access the system set up on your TV and change the language, but time consuming.   Gee, maybe we could all reach more of the Spanish conservatives and voters if we would have  a "Press 2 button" before the blog page opens.

"For the first time, Democrats wanted to deliver a Spanish-language version. So they tapped Salazar, the Centennial State's bilingual junior senator, to do the honors in a room at the U.S. Capitol."  Tancredo does not like it.

I took two years of Spanish in high School, which language chosen was an option, but it was required to have two years of a foreign language for graduation.  However, then in 1954, the thinking was that a foreign language would further our educational experience.  Now however, learning spanish is required for survival.

Barbara Boxer, is now the chairperson of....

Committee on Environment and Public Works.  What a toot.  This will be fun to watch.  You remember Boxer a few days ago intimating that because Secretary Rice did not have children, she could not make a rational informed decision about sending any of our young men and women into harms way.  And now, the head of the environment committee.  My own Senator, Inhofe was the previous head, and an anti-global warming activist.

The latest hoot on this issue came about when an advocate of Global Warming, Heidi Cullen, a spokesperson for the weather channel desired to have any, yes any, and all weather persons to have their status as members of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) decertified if they would dare to question the "fact" that man is causing catastrophic global climate change.  Her words.
"If a meteorologist can't speak to the fundamental science of climate change, then maybe the AMS shouldn't give them a Seal of Approval. Clearly, the AMS doesn't agree that global warming can be blamed on cyclical weather patterns. It's like allowing a meteorologist to go on-air and say that hurricanes rotate clockwise and tsunamis are caused by the weather. It's not a political statement...it's just an incorrect statement."

Oh, the intolerance of intolerance from the left is truly amazing to watch.

To rebut this nonsense of Heidi, a certified weather man from Alabama, you know, the dumb south, has  come out with his own statements.  James Spann has this to say.
"I have been in operational meteorology since 1978, and I know dozens and dozens of broadcast meteorologists all over the country. Our big job: look at a large volume of raw data and come up with a public weather forecast for the next seven days. I do not know of a single TV meteorologist who buys into the man-made global warming hype. I know there must be a few out there, but I can’t find them. Here are the basic facts you need to know:

But Barbara will find them.

2LT Mark Daily, an American hero.

This 23 year old Army ROTC Distinguished Military Graduate, an aspiring journalist, is an American hero.  He was killed in an IED attack.  Michelle Malkin has reprinted his reason for joining the Army and volunteering for duty in Iraq.  Read it in his own words.  Truly an account that we should all read, bookmark and email to all friends, and foes too, for their education also.

Two Americans in jail. One illegal alien free.

Sick, sick, sick.  Your government at work.
This entire case of
Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean has been a fiasco from the very beginning, but they are in jail today, and the drug smuggler illegal alien is free with immunity.  Now "the head of a union representing most Border Patrol agents is calling on President Bush and Congress to appoint a special counsel to investigate the case."  WND has the story"... there were "only three people who saw what happened on the other side of that levee – Agent Ramos, Agent Compean, and the Mexican drug smuggler, Osbaldo Aldrete-Davila."  The drug smuggler was granted immunity, the prosecutor believed him, the jury believed him. the judge believed him and the agents are in jail.

Gee, I would rehearse my story a thousand times to get immunity.

A defense fund is being set up to pay some of the costs for the appeal and help the families while these guys try to maintain hope locked up in jail.

All donations that are designated for Agents Ramos and Compean will be used to fund their legal defense and assist their families in their hour of need.

More information here.

And now, the drug smuggling illegal Mexican alien is suing the US border Patrol for $5,000,000 because his civil rights were trampled upon by being shot in the butt while running away from arrest.

This time, the ACLU has been a help

It's hard to believe that the ACLU has been a help on a matter of importance to the grassroots, the new ethics bill presented in the Senate that the demos (dumb-oohs) desired to further control freedom of speech in the country.  The Washington Times has the story.   "But issue groups spanning the political spectrum -- from National Right to Life and Focus on the Family to the League of Conservation Voters and the American Civil Liberties Union -- say the expanded definition of lobbyist will imperil citizens' constitutional rights to free speech and to petition the government."

And here is something that has not happened in quite a while.  "Republicans retaliated by voting in near-lockstep..."

Here they go again...

The Mexican government is demanding an investigation into the murder of an illegal alien attempting to cross our border.    The alien was shot as he and 6 others had crossed the border and were apprehended by border agents. "Before he was shot, Mr. Domínguez Rivera scuffled with the agent, whose identity was not released, a Border Patrol spokesman said."  The New York Times has the article.

“Any time there’s an assault on a federal agent, we’re involved,” Deborah McCarley, the Federal Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman, said. “As we go along, if information surfaces that there’s been a civil rights violation, then we obviously would take a look at that.”

Here they go again, the FBI is looking at our Border Patrol agents possibly violating the 'civil rights' of someone resisting arrest, fleeing apprehension while attempting to enter the country illegally.

"The Mexican Ministry of Foreign Relations sent a formal note to the State Department expressing “its serious concern over the recurrence of this type of incident.”   Perhaps our State Department, Homeland Security, and the Immigration Service should respond to the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Relations, that when the Mexican Government start to enable the residents of Mexico to make a decent living, then this invasion into the US might stop of it's own and they would prefer to remain in Mexico.  Then this 'concern over the recurrence of this type of incident' would cease.  In the meantime, the US has the right to apprehend and if necessary use force which may cause harm to Mexican residents who violate our laws.

When does some ones 'civil rights' cease to be a right?

Who is Rod Martin?

"A reinvigorated, recommitted conservative movement must consolidate its strength in the Republican Party and drive on to new, greater victories. Everything hangs in the balance."  so says Rod Martin in the Jan 1st. column of the Vanguard.org conservative activist site.  Today, Human Events called this the next MoveOn.org conservative movement.  “The left has always been better at coalition building, and MoveOn is the latest means by which they’re better. But the internet is a great leveler: we can do this too. And we must.”

Check it out.

The republicans must do something big to keep control of the White House in 2008.  The party is fractured, the party lacks a leader, the party has lost it's mission, the party is sitting on their butts waiting for someone to come along to guide and invigorate again the conservative base into a cohesive unit to beat the tar out of Hillary and company.  Newt is on the rise again trying his best, but he is damaged goods and could not make a successfull run, but he's got the thought and the ideas.

Here at the Townhall bloggers, we've got ideas, we've got voices, but that is all it is.  Just perhaps Rod Martin and  vanguard.org might become the focus, the power behind the party tob bring it back to dominance again.
