Tolerance extremism has a way of becoming absurd. Take this story for example.
“Hindu appointed to run Christian studies at St. Olaf College.” St. Olaf was founded in 1874 and has been and is affiliated with the Lutheran Church of America. The Lutheran Church proudly named their denomination after the famous act of Martin Luther, the guy who nailed his 95 theses to some door in Germany, which started the split that turned into Protestantism and thousands of offshoots. Long time ago and many changes since. And now, the Christian college turns to a Hindu to instruct Christian students on Christian theology. Could we ask for a Wican to instruct Muslims on Islam? Or how about a Newt Gingrich to instruct the democratic party at their national convention? Or we could get Paris Hilton to instruct welfare mothers on how to wisely spend the food stamp money.
Back to St. Olaf and the Hindu priest, or whatever they call their anointed ones, and what he had to say about Christianity.
“Certain forms of Christian proselytization have given rise to tension and even violence between some religious communities," He is part of a group that has met in Rome with the World Council of Churches to discuss this issue and to come to an agreement on an acceptable code of conduct,
“acceptable and unacceptable ways of sharing our faiths in communities”.
Question. Were there any Muslims in this esteemed group?
Did they discuss how the Muslim share their faith by torture, by stoning the unfaithful, by removing a limb for stealing, by taxing non believers, by blowing up innocent people of a different Muslim sect, of demanding Western air ports to install foot washing basins, and on and on goes the list of unacceptable ways the Muslims share their faith in the west. Did this esteemed group of very concerned educators discuss any of this?
May I ask, without offending anyone, is Christianity the only religion that acts offensive in the way they seek converts? My answer. It sure is. But we even expect it, as it was proclaimed.
“Do you remember what I told you? 'A servant is not greater than the master.' Since they persecuted me, naturally they will persecute you. And if they had listened to me, they would listen to you! The people of the world will hate you because you belong to me, for they don't know God who sent me. John 15:20- 21. So, why the fuss about this? Shouldn’t we be out there looking for ways to be persecuted? The church is out there, and that is why the Christian church is growing exponentially, and that is why the other religions of the world, and even the political class hate and despise the Christians. When one encounters the real thing, when one encounters truth, then one is amazed that he/she did not “see” it all before, that the eyes were shut, that there was a glaze over the understanding that colored and distorted that simple truth. We fuss about the persecution because it distorts the truth and keeps people from understanding this simple truth, and that makes the job of proselytizating more difficult. And that is their mission. To distort truth.
That is the mission of secular progressives. That is the mission of liberals. That is the purpose of ‘tolerance’ training. That is the purpose of multi-cultural indoctrination.
We fuss about it because some of those in leadership positions within the many denominations of the Christian church have left the roots, have forsaken the basics, have left the truth in favor of showering tolerance and multi-culturalism upon those who eventually will not tolerate the basics of Christianity.
And that is intolerable, and absurd.
